  2. Dec 30,  · This is a very plush production of Fledermaus from at Covent Garden that also was Dame Joan Sutherland's farewell to a house in which she had been singing for nearly 40 years. The production of Fledermaus is very well done, with very lavish settings from the Vienna of Johann Strauss, including the centerpiece ball of Act II/5(18).
  3. Jul 23,  · ten CD set from one of the most important Austrian conductors of the 20th Century. Apart from his concertante activity, he has put a huge emphasis to record the works he conducted: during his lifetime, he recorded about works by nearly composers, all with famous orchestras.4/5(1).

  8. Jun 18,  · TEXT: The words of "Die Fledermaus" are the Rodney Dangerfield of opera, they just don't get no respect. In this production, the words spoken are so far from the text presented to Johann Strauss II by Haffner and Genée that they are credited to an entirely new author, Gisela Schunk. This version is blessedly free of any gala nonsense in Act II.5/5(4).
